Mate of mine works as an engineer for Sky. He says you can cancel then reorder I in someone else's name at that address (wife, son etc) and you will get the better deal immediately. Mine is being cancelled after Ryder Cup. Got full package with multiroom and HD. Don't watch that much anymore.

Pagey - nail on the head ... Equivalent of going to one of our shit home games you can have the full works with Sky for two months 'no brainer really although people will always complain...

Re: if you cancel sky tv....

Been with them for 4 years, paying about £25-27

Offers I had on my account have expired - it's now £47. Called them to discuss it, not interested. Offered me a couple if quid off.

Bloody irritating - I've cancelled. Any of you lot have better luck after that thread a few weeks back giving advice to get good deals?

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
You will only be considered a 'new' customer when 12 months have elapsed from cancelling.

Any new customer who wants a half price for a year code, WHOmail me your email address

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
Bumped this to say to those cancelling be patient.

Been without Sky for about a month and letter came through yesterday offering 50% off to rejoin.

So got the family pack, Sky Sports, HD and Movies (which I hadn't had for years) for £38.25 per month for 12 months. Was paying £63, minus the Movies!!

Took them a month to turn my subscription off but 5 minutes to turn it back on again.....

So they can do it cheaper!!!!!!!

It's one month, not 12.

Zico, I got the same thing two weeks after cancelling, so signed up again. The past three years I've only paid 50% and had to just go without for the odd month when cancelling before starting up again.

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
Don't just go for the discount. Still say you're not sure and ask if they can credit your account.

I cancelled mine as my previous discount ran out. They offered me a new deal but it was still £9 more than before. But they've given me £100 credit on my account making it free for 3 months. And no 12 month contract so I get to do it all again in time for the new year!

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
SKY tv is absolutely magnificent.

And good luck to them charging what they want.
They rely on lazy cunts like me who can't be arsed to go through the hassle of cancelling and rejoining to get discounts.

If you aren't a lazy cunt and are able to get money off, great, well done.

Everyone's a winner.
Except people without SKY tv.

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
I was a customer for about 10 years on the full package. Sacked them as out of the country for about 5/6 months of the year. After various attempts to entice me back they offered the whole package (not HD though) FREE for six months.
Had to take that, had the six months then sacked 'em. Sky guy couldn't believe it!,
Helps that I get Sky on my iPad through one of the permissions from my son's multiroom subscription.

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
The stuck my bill up to £90 (included phone line and internet) after my last deal expired... phoned them up and asked what they could do said could knock £6-00 off... said bollocks... knocked off Sky Sports and Movies and saved myself £40 a month.... bought one of the Android boxes for £99.... been great... SKY Sports not in HD but all films are new releases in HD... so 100% won't get Movies again... might be swayed if I can get a decent price on Sports (for the HD)... to be honest though I watch At The Races & SSN more than the 5 Sports Channels and they are BOTH free....

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
You really don't have to wait even one month.

Call them up and give notice
Ignore any offers they call up with before the cut off date
The day after it cuts off, log-in to your MySky account
Voila, offer right there to come back with 50% off

I wish I'd known this before cancelling the wife's account and reactivating mine - had a nightmare getting new cards paired to boxes and getting BT Sport switched over to anew one - she logged into her account and saw the offer there. So at least I know for next year...

Re: if you cancel sky tv....
I am right in the middle of sorting out a new deal with Sky, been with them for 15 years and never had a discount.
Have Family Pack, HD Pack and Sports, all coming in at £62.
Told them I want to cancel in the hope of getting a better deal. The best they offered is 35% off at £42 mth for 8 months and no contract.

Said I will think about it and call them back tonight.

Should I just cancel in the hope of getting the 50%.
The other thing that might go in my favour is the contract is in my brother's name, he moved out some time ago and I pay him the money.
Should my brother just cancel and let me start a new contract.

Kite, if you wanted that pack now, I'd prob have to pay 70-80 quid.

Sky is for cunts, gullible cunts at that

£900 a year for the odd game of football or a movie. 90% of the time you just end up watching terrestrial tv or the other freeview channels
